In spite of the uncertainty has been facing ever since the public voted to leave the EU back in June, property prices  are still steadily climbing.
In October this year, house prices rose by one point four percent, which was the largest rise in house prices  since March.
This is considered to be partially due to the slower growth throughout the second quarter of the year, which has then caused a shortage of homes.
As the great majority of the recent reports on the matter suggest that the government will fail to meet its home building target, the shortage in the housing stock is predicted to intensify, which will cause the existing homes to prove more desirable and will, consequentially, push the prices further up.

The Regional Division in Supply and Demand

The issue of the supply and the demand that the faces does, however, seem to be regional. As an example, in the South region of England, the supply is up against the demand, therefore making it more of a buyer’s market, with each property in the region receiving fewer inquiries.
In the North region of England, on the other hand, the supply is down against the demand, therefore making it more of a seller’s market as there is more competition to buy each existing property.
One of the factors that is perhaps to “blame” for the existence of such an oversupply of property compared to the demand in the South region of England is the affordability factor. The property prices in the South region of England have sky-rocketed over the recent years, and it has now got to the point where the great majority of that property is simply un-affordable.
In the two year period between the year of 2012 and the year of 2019 alone, property prices in the city of London rose by a staggering twenty nine percent, while the rents in the city of London rose by six percent in the same time period. For comparison, the national average in the same time period was nine percent rise in the property prices, and two percent rise in rent prices.
